The black-chinned babbler is a small babbler, 10 cm long and 8–12 g, biscuit-coloured, with a black chin and lores and a buffy-grey crown. It occurs in the foothills of the Himalaya from the Murree Hills in Pakistan to eastern Nepal, in subtropical and temperate forest at 245–2,750 m. Edward Blyth proposed the name Stachyris pyrrhops in 1844 for a greenish-olive babbler with a black chin and lores from Nepal; it was later placed in Stachyridopsis (Wikipedia, general species account).
