Hemidactylus brookii
Range
Himalayan India, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Southeast Asia (disputed)
Brooke's house gecko, also called the spotted house gecko, is a widespread species of gecko in the family Gekkonidae. Its distribution is controversial: one study restricted the true Hemidactylus brookii to Borneo, while another based its definition on specimens from Nepal. Young animals have cross lines of white tubercles on the back and all-white tubercles on the tail (Reptile Database and Wikipedia, general species account).
The head has a snout somewhat longer than the distance from eye to ear opening, and the tail is depressed and ringed, with rows of spine-like tubercles. The sources opened give nothing on size, diet or breeding. Because the name is disputed, geckos in Nepal that carry it may belong to a different species, and the entry is flagged.
