Size

Males 49cm total; females 110cm total

The Chinese mountain pit viper is a pit viper found in Asia, with a short snout a little more than twice the eye diameter. The crown is covered by small scales rather than large shields, and the body scales are usually smooth and feebly overlapping. The sexes differ in size, with males reaching about 49cm in total length and females about 110cm (Wikipedia, general species account).

Its range runs from Nepal and north-east India through Myanmar to southern China and Southeast Asia. Recent taxonomic work suggests that most of its subspecies should be treated as separate species, so animals recorded in Nepal may belong to a different species from those further east. Nothing on diet, habitat or breeding was found in the sources opened.
