Hardwicke's woolly bat is a vesper bat with smoky brown fur on the back and lighter greyish-brown fur below. The forearm is typically 31 to 36mm and the ears about 11 to 15mm. The wing membrane is blackish-brown but translucent, and it has a more marked size difference in its premolars than other woolly bats (Wikipedia, general species account).

It has been reported roosting in caves and buildings in forests, foraging in residential areas and roosting on rooftops. It has also been seen roosting in rattan vine leaves in Indonesia and in a bamboo thicket in the Philippines, and it inhabits the forest understory, roosting in hollow trees or dead leaf clusters. Those records are from Southeast Asia, not Nepal. Nationally Data Deficient (Nepal National Red List 2011).
