The mountain scops owl, sometimes called the spotted scops owl, is an owl whose range extends across much of south and Southeast Asia, from Pakistan and the Himalaya in the north-west through Taiwan, Thailand and Malaysia. The nominate subspecies of the eastern Himalaya has a distinctly more russet plumage, and it is an altitudinal migrant (Wikipedia, general species account).
Its call is a short, high-pitched two-note whistle, plew-plew or he-he, though the female's song is rarely heard, and calls differ between geographic populations. The cached account is short and gives no measurements, diet or breeding information (Wikipedia, general species account).
