The Rara Lake frog, Nanorana rarica, is a dicroglossid frog described in 2001 by Dubois, Matsui and Ohler. It was first named Rana rara in 1983 but renamed because that name was already taken. Adult males are 37 to 46mm; it is grey-brown above with warty skin and dark spots, and whitish underneath, and breeding males develop black nuptial spines (Wikipedia, general species account).

It is endemic to western Nepal, found at about 3,000m around Rara Lake in montane forest, and little else is known. The source gives only tadpole measurements for breeding (Wikipedia, general species account).
