The white-tailed eagle, sometimes called the sea eagle, ern or grey sea eagle, is a large bird of prey widely distributed across temperate Eurasia. It is one of up to eleven species of sea eagle, forms a species pair with the bald eagle, and is a member of the hawk family. Males, the slightly smaller sex, may typically weigh 3.1–5.4 kg (Wikipedia, general species account).

Some populations have recovered well after government protection, habitat and nest-site protection, controls on poaching and pesticides, and careful reintroduction into former range (Wikipedia, general species account).
