The calamaria reed snake is a small snake, light brown, greyish-brown or greenish above, with the scales usually edged in black to form fine longitudinal lines, the most conspicuous being one on each side of the spine. The underside is whitish, yellow in life, and a series of dark spots on each side of the head are the remains of temporal stripes. The head is fairly distinct from the neck (Wikipedia, general species account).

A male measured 335mm with a 108mm tail, and a female 390mm with a 100mm tail. Its range includes the Western Ghats and Sri Lanka, with a record from Chitwan in Nepal and a possible one from Bhutan. The sources opened give nothing on habitat, diet or breeding, so none is stated.
