The fire-tailed myzornis is a small, warbler-like bird 11–13 cm long and 10–13 g, with bright green plumage, a black mask around the eyes and black scalloping on the crown. The wing is black and white with a streak of bright red, the sides of the tail are bright red, and the bill is long, slightly curved and black (Wikipedia, general species account).
There is some seasonal movement, in summer at 2,700–3,950 m or higher and in autumn and winter at 1,600–2,750 m. It is usually silent but has a high-pitched tsi-tsit call. It feeds on insects, spiders and small arthropods and also fruit, nectar, particularly from rhododendron flowers, and tree sap. The breeding season is mainly April to June but may be longer, as juveniles have been seen in mid-September in Bhutan (Wikipedia, general species account).
