Chimarrogale himalayica

Basic stats

Range

China, India, Japan, Laos, Myanmar, Taiwan and Vietnam (the source does not name Nepal)

The Himalayan water shrew, Chimarrogale himalayica, is a shrew of the family Soricidae described by Gray in 1842. The source lists it from China, India, Japan, Laos, Myanmar, Taiwan and Vietnam but does not name Nepal, so its Nepal status should be checked (Wikipedia, general species account).

A 2017 revision of the water shrews of Vietnam found this species occupies central and northern Vietnam and southern China, and is larger than the southern Vietnamese water shrew. As a water shrew it is presumed to be semi-aquatic; the source gives no size, habitat or diet detail (Zootaxa 2017).
