The orange-breasted green pigeon lives across tropical Asia south of the Himalaya and feeds mainly on small fruit, in pairs or small flocks, foraging quietly and moving slowly through trees. The nape is blue-grey and the crown yellowish green. The male has a narrow pinkish-lilac band on the upper breast above a broader orange one, while the female is yellow below (Wikipedia, general species account).
It is a forest species, widely distributed from the Terai and lower Himalayas, below 1,500m, south mainly in the Western and Eastern Ghats. It resembles other green pigeons but has no maroon on the wing. The nest is a flimsy platform of a few twigs holding two white eggs, incubated by both sexes and hatching in about 12 to 14 days.
