Size

23–29cm

The little grebe, or dabchick, is the smallest European, Asian and African member of its family, at 23 to 29cm, and is common on open water across most of its range. Ten subspecies are recognised, separated mainly by size, eye colour and the extent of white on the wing (Wikipedia, general species account).

Usually four to seven eggs are laid, and when the adult leaves the nest it usually takes care to cover the eggs with weeds. Little else was found in the sources opened, so no diet, behaviour or Nepal-specific detail is given.
