The yellow-throated marten is the second-largest Old World marten after the Nilgiri marten, with a tail more than half the body length. The short fur is bright brownish-yellow, the head is blackish brown and pointed, the cheeks reddish, and the chest and lower throat orange-golden. The back of the ears and the front paws are black (Wikipedia, general species account).
It hunts mainly on the ground but climbs well, and can jump 8 to 9m between branches. It is diurnal, usually hunting in pairs and sometimes in packs of three or more, and patrols territory up to 10 to 20km in a day and night. In Nepal's Kanchenjunga Conservation Area it has been recorded up to 4,510m in alpine meadow. Nationally Least Concern (Nepal National Red List 2011).
